The fourth installment of the “Resident Evil” zombie horror film series, “Afterlife”, based on the popular video games, seems set to be pushed back to a 2011 release date, although actress Milla Jovovich is insisting this move is not yet definite.
The film was scheduled to be released on the twenty seventh of August next year, but it is rumoured that, with much post-production needed on the flick due to the added 3D effect (the first in the series to feature the gimmick), director Paul W. Anderson has been given a few more months to pull it off. Jovovich, however, is still saying that the move is not yet for certain. “RE “Afterlife” is NOT officially pushed,” the actress wrote on her Twitter feed. “There have been talks of pushing it as they (are) not sure they can have it ready by July. We (are) trying as hard as we can to still meet the summer deadline though, so for the moment it’s still on for August.”
Web site ShockTillYouDrop.com, however, is equally insistent that Screen Gems HAVE pushed the film back to January 2011, and that the studio has lined up “Priest”, a vampire thriller based on the manga comic of the same name starring Paul Bettany, to take its place on the August 27 release date. If the move is definite, however, that would put the new “Evil” up against another 3D horror flick, MGM’s “The Cabin in the Woods”, which is co-written and produced by Joss “Buffy” Whedon.
