The Brady Bunch really were a typical family… completely dysfunctional – off-screen at least. A planned reunion between the stars of the campy cult classic sit-com on NBC’s “Today” show this week had to be cancelled, allegedly because of the ongoing feud between Eve Plumb and Maureen McCormick, who played sisters Jan and Marcia Brady. RadarOnline.com say that sources claim that the feud started after McCormick’s tell all book “Here’s the Story” was published in 2007, in which she claimed that she and Plumb had a steamy lesbian affair behind the scenes of the show.
“The bottom line is that they didn’t want to be on the same show and the appearance was cancelled because of it… Some people blame Maureen and some people blame Eve.” In November, Susan Olsen, who played little Cindy Brady, admitted that “I don’t like there to be a rift in the family. I love them both and this means whenever we get together for any project there will be only one or the other. But I do understand Eve’s point of view. She got tired of Maureen gaining attention for herself by regurgitating the tiresome and false insinuations that they had a lesbian affair.”
Others, however, claim that the feud is far more long standing than that. “The problems between them go back decades,” a source claims. “They’ve never liked each other. And there have been many other events where Eve has said “I’m not doing it if Maureen is doing it”.”
