Jennifer Morrison has broken her silence on her unexpected removal from the cast of medical drama “House”. The actress, who played Dr. Alison Cameron since the show began, left the show under strange circumstances early in the new (sixth) season, with conflicting reports as to whether she was axed or left voluntarily.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Morrison, who is returning to the series for a one-off guest appearance, praises the series but also makes it very clear that the decision to leave was not her own. “I love the show, and I love (Cameron),” Morrison was quoted as saying. “Under no circumstances would I ever decide on my own to leave.” The actress’ comments appear to directly contradict one of the series’ executive producers, Katie Jacobs, who barely a fortnight ago suggested to the press both that Morrison’s absence may be temporary, and was at the actress’ own request in order to do a play. It would seem both those statements were falsehoods – Morrison did indeed request time off to do a play… but only after producers had already told her that she was being axed from the series. Although Morrison still has a contract for next year’s season as well, the actress says “I don’t believe they have plans to pick up my option.”
The revelation is unlikely to calm the anger of many fans, who believe that the actress, one of the original cast who helped to make the show a success in the first place, has been shoddily treated, first by being reduced to little more than an extra for the past two seasons, and then, just as it seemed the character was to be reintegrated (as producers had been promising for two years), unceremoniously dumped. Comments on the EW.com site reveal that most fans now regard the producers as outright liars. One poster, Kutner’s Ghost, did however find room for a little humour in the situation, noting, “I heard she wanted to stay, but Jay Leno wanted to take over the role of Cameron.”

And this is why I cannot watch the show anymore. As much as I love watching Hugh and his portrayal of House, the thought that these liars are the ones producting the show just sickens me.
It really does suck that they have treated her so poorly, one of the reasons I stopped watching this show was because they put Cameron and Chase in the background and focused the show on other less interesting/poorly acted characters. I guess I was lucky I checked out of House when I did.
It’s ridiculous how they treat Jennifer and the fans.
Jennifer Morrison was a competent actress since the beginning of the series and certainly helped to build the success of the show.
As for the fans, I think the response will be given in the episode Cameron will be attending and especially those who come later.
I live in Brazil and I know many fans have abandoned the series because of so many stupid decisions by producers.
Jennifer does not need House MD, but I think the producers will regret their decision.
*sorry my english
I stopped watching. And I won’t ever watch a show fronted by David Shore or Katie Jacobs again. They can’t be trusted not to mess up their own work.
I stopped watching too. Writing out my favorite character for no reason is one thing, but lying to fans and the actress herself is simply disgusting, TPTB. I hope your happy with losing not only a fantastic, talented actress but also many, many long-time, loyal fans who stuck to the show from the beginning even through crappier storylines (Thirteen and Huddy, just to name two) for the sake of even more crappier storylines (more Thirteen and Huddy).
Lying to fans never pays of. I’m done with the show, don’t watch for Huddy crap or the new team, it’s not the same without Cameron.
Cameron was an annoying character. I think that the show is perfect now with all the amazing house/wilson stuff that we are getting.
I thought this was understood. I didn’t think producers were liars. I followed Jennifer’s news and first- it was leaked that Cam was leaving, second- Jennifer said it wasn’t her decision but a creative instead, 3rd- Jennifer signed up for play while she as under contract but not filming.
It all happened in the right order, I think it’s all a misunderstanding.

It’s true that Cameron was one of the reasons I got into the show. There was something about her desire to help people and the way Morrison portrayed her that was refreshing on a show where almost everyone else was cynical and selfish.
Maybe if the show had done a better job of the post Cameron & Chase years I might still be watching but the show is increasing one note, and a sour note at that. The producers completely failed to recognize what Cameron brought to the show and the incredibly sloppy way they wrote her out is more evidence of that.
Good for Jennifer Morrison for not being bitter and bad-mouthing people who deserve to be called the liars that they are. I wish her all the success in the future.
